We are seeking a Technical Manager for a new site in Wigan. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a state-of-the-art facility that produces high-risk RTE frozen chicken products for retail customers.

As a Technical Manager, you will liaise with customers to meet their needs, ensure compliance with HACCP standards, and document product controls.

About the role

• You will ensure that raw materials and product specifications meet safety, legal, and quality requirements and that labelling and packaging adhere to legal requirements.
• You will have the authority to place products on hold or release them, coordinate technical and hygiene monitoring, manage BRC and customer standards, and supervise quality assurance procedures.
• You must also oversee the development of quality management systems and ensure compliance with statutory legislation.
• You will be responsible for food defence and fraud activities and managing pest control programs.
• You also oversaw microbiological analysis and control of production systems, cleaning regimes, and standards.
• You will be a member of the Crisis Management Team and serve as the HACCP Team Leader, specializing in Food Safety, Product Quality and Legality and leading the implementation and monitoring of Food Fraud and Food Defense systems.
• Finally, you support the development of a Food Safety Culture.

The Technical Manager will lead a small team of 2 QAs, 2 hygiene operators (night shift), and a technical administrator. Discussions are underway to implement a 2nd shift, and you will play a key role in ensuring the success of the site's expansion plans.

About You

The ideal candidate will be an experienced Technical Supervisor or similar who has participated in customer and GFSI audits and is looking to progress to the role of Technical Manager.

You must have strong communication and leadership skills and a deep understanding of quality assurance and compliance requirements.
