Job Title: Engineering Manager
Location: Manchester
Salary: £40,000-£50,000 Depending on experience. Benefits include Healthcare and pension.
Our client is a family business with a well-established reputation for producing high-quality products at our production facility in Manchester and we are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to join the senior team.
As a technical expert in this role, you will report directly to the Production Director and be responsible for supporting the delivery of multiple production lines. You will be required to work autonomously, scheduling work and liaising with the production team to ensure all machines are well-maintained and ready for production. Additionally, you will be tasked with assessing the competence of the existing small team and future-proofing it accordingly.
Your duties will also include maintaining a clean and tidy workspace in line with 5S standards, as well as identifying your own personal training needs to ensure effective performance in your role. You should be keen to develop and learn new skills, which may include carrying out further learning in your own time as and when required and identified.
The essential requirements for this role include a degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience, along with experience in Food Production engineering, Electrical product design, and Electrical and Mechanical Fault finding. As a person, you should be a team player, confident, highly motivated, detail-oriented, and a self-learner.
Desirable qualifications for this role include an HNC in Electrical Engineering or other relevant field of study, as well as a BEng/BSc in Electrical Engineering or other relevant field of study. You should also have strong knowledge of electrical control systems, including PLC controllers in Siemens, and be able to program frequency inverters. Additionally, you should possess good presentation skills and be willing to travel.
You should have excellent time management skills, be able to work as part of a team and individually, have experience in robotics, and be proficient in using Microsoft Office, including Excel, OneNote, Outlook, Presentation, Teams & Word.
As a trained engineering manager, you should have at least 8 years of experience in a food manufacturing environment and be able to work autonomously with complete control over your own workshop and ordering of parts. You should have experience working well with production teams and management.
